Oppenheim workshop
The watchmaking workshop is on the ground floor of this listed building dating from 1707. Next door in the same building is a second-hand bookshop full of old books, where you can pass the time if you wish to wait while I carry out minor repairs.
Over the years, the workshop has grown to more than 90 square metres. Wristwatch repairs take place in the cleanest area, the atelier. Here, your watch movements are repaired, regulated and refitted into their cases.
Next door is the metalworking workshop, with lathes, a drilling machine and a place for filing and minor grinding work that produces little dirt.
The adjoining washing room houses the ultrasonic bath and sink for cleaning watch cases or clock components.
The grinding workshop is completely separate from this area. Here, watch cases are restored or tools resharpened. The blasting unit for bead-blasting watch cases is also located here.
In the reception area, you can drop off your repairs. You will also sometimes find watches offered for sale, as well as a selection of watch straps.
Our equipment meets the highest standards, allowing us to obtain Omega certification at the highest level. In addition to a modern watch-cleaning machine with six baths and ultrasound, we have several water-resistance testers for air-pressure and underwater testing, as well as a timing machine with an automatic multi-position microphone. Every watch is thus regulated and tested in six positions through a consistent inspection process.
A micro spot-welding unit for case restoration and an FDM 3D printer for making fixtures and auxiliary tools bring state-of-the-art techniques into watchmaking, right alongside tools from the last and the nineteenth centuries that are still used regularly.
The air in the atelier is filtered around the clock, and the watchmaking benches are equipped with compressed air and vacuum suction to ensure perfect cleanliness during servicing and when fitting the movement into the case.
You can drop off your watch or clock for repair during opening hours without an appointment. We look forward to your visit.

Our clock workshop occupied this building on the market square of the Hessenpark open-air museum, which is accessible without admission. Primarily wall, longcase and table clocks were repaired there. Wristwatches that could not be worked on locally were brought to our main workshop in Oppenheim.
The same building houses the Hessian Watchmaking School, where master watchmaker training also takes place. A cooperation agreement allowed us to use parts of its machine equipment and, for example, make new wheels or pinions for clocks.
Our workshop on the raised ground floor is permanently closed. Dropping off or collecting watches and clocks, and services on site, are no longer possible there.
The tower-clock exhibition and historical tower-clockmaker’s workshop at Hessenpark offer further insights into watchmaking. The photographs here recall our former workshop location.
